Folder Size for Windows added a new column to the Details view in Windows Explorer. Sheessshhhh.įor Windows XP there was a free utility called Folder Size by Brio. They make it so your folders expand exponentially with files that you have no idea what they are and you can't even trace down which folders are causing the problems unless you right click on each of the stinking folders out of possibly hundreds and get information.

What was M$ (Microsoft) thinking when they did not put an option into Windows Explorer that would allow you to see the size of your file folders? They still have not fixed this serious problem in Windows 7. With the host of more effective programs available, including some freeware options, users shouldn't have any problem finding a better and less costly alternative to determine folder size.Windows Folder Size In A File Explorer In Windows 7 No other features or functionality are offered. The third section is apparently designed to visually display the biggest files or subfolders in a directory, but the prominent Unregistered Version watermark covers much of the information with the demo version, and size is not included. Considering this application's name and promised functionality, this doesn't make any sense. Oddly, this section only shows individual files and their sizes unless you choose the option to include nested folders. We're disappointed that users must individually open each folder before the program can actually reveal its memory expenditures in the second pane.

Folder Size Viewer's unappealing, multipane interface displays your folders in a tree list, but it doesn't automatically read the contents of selected folders as Windows Explorer does.

This disappointing application promises to reveal both folder and file sizes, but its poor design and trial limitations make it less useful than standard features found in Windows Explorer.
